First European ERA-NET dedicated to the coordination of translational cancer research funding programmes across Europe.
TRANSCAN was launched in January 2011 under the European Union Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) with the objective of reducing fragmentation in translational cancer research funding across Europe.
The network brought together funding organisations, ministries and cancer charities from 20 European countries, creating a coordinated framework for supporting multinational translational cancer research projects.
During its lifetime, TRANSCAN implemented three Joint Transnational Calls: JTC 2011, JTC 2012 and JTC 2013.
Across these calls, TRANSCAN funded 30 multinational research projects and established the operational basis for the continuation of the programme through TRANSCAN-2.
