Introduction
The Joint Transnational Call (JTC) 2024 has successfully concluded, marking another milestone in collaborative cancer research across Europe and beyond. This call received 98 eligible pre-proposals from 16 countries, involving 466 research groups. In total, 15 funding organizations from 13 countries participated under the topic:
“Combination therapies against cancer: new opportunities for translational research.”
Following an extensive review of 32 full proposals, 15 projects were selected for funding, involving 73 research teams across 13 countries. The committed budget for JTC 2024 was €19.71 million, with funded projects requesting €16.71 million, supported by multiple European and international partners.
The overall success rate was 15% from pre-proposals to funded projects, and 47% for full proposals. Funded projects address various cancer types, including brain, breast, lung, and pancreas, reflecting diverse research priorities.
Gender participation was nearly balanced: 49% female and 51% male across research groups, with coordinators showing a slight male majority. Coordinators represent 5 countries, while partners span 13 countries, highlighting the transnational nature of the initiative.
